TROPICAL 7s is organised by a team of industry professionals with experience from all over the world.  Meet the team that will host you in the tropics.


John Siner (USA) - Executive Director

John SinerJohn runs the USA office based in Orlando, Florida. He has over 20 years experience working in the sports industry both in the USA and internationally, including 7 years with the International Olympic Committee.  John has also previously held roles with Major League Soccer, adidas, CBS Sports, as well as collaborative projects with FIFA. John holds a Masters degree in International Sport Management, and a published thesis on the subject of “Sport and Tourism”.




Alex Proctor-Pearson (GBR) - International Director

Alex heads up our overseas office in the UK. With 12+ years experience in the international sport sector, Alex also holds a business undergraduate degree from Edinburgh and a post-graduate degree in International Sports Management.  Alex has held previous roles with the International Olympic Committee, the London 2012 Olympics and with UK Sport, the UK government's agency responsible for elite sport and major events. Alex is a keen sportsman and played rugby 7s as a junior.



Veronika Muehlhofer (AUT) - Director of Competition

Veronika MuhlhoferBased in Switzerland, Veronika has 17 years of experience in International Sports & Event Management including 4 Olympic Games and countless tournaments and world championships in many different sports. She also has 5+ years’ experience as an entrepreneur, and a lifetime's passion for sports. She is a dynamic, positive, solution-oriented professional, taking pride in the delivery of outstanding quality in all her projects. She has worked, lived, or studied in the US, Europe, Russia, Asia, and South America, and has learned at least some of the local languages.  Veronika has always been entrepreneurially-minded, and took the leap to start her own company providing sports and event management consultancy and services in 2011. Veronika is a World Rugby Level 3 certified coach and works as a tournament director for 7s and 15s rugby championships for Rugby Europe and European Club Rugby.


Jennie Reid (USA) - Global Outreach Partner

Jennie Reid is the Founder and CEO of Positively Rugby, a global collaboration business for rugby at all levels and aspects to promote the goodness and leadership attributes of people involved in rugby (#RugbyGood). Based in Florida in the USA, she is involved in building the strategy and expansion of Tropical 7s, including social media, connecting teams, establish new partnerships, and event operations. Jennie’s rugby involvement began with her years spent in New Zealand, getting immersed in the culture and the true spirit of rugby and its unique, strong values that are so evident globally. She works on business development, social media, and market affiliations to showcase what rugby is all about. Her diverse, expansive rugby network is a valuable characteristic for partnership with the Tropical 7s.


Richard de Jager (RSA) - Global Ambassador

Richard de Jager

Born in South Africa, Richard worked previously as Manager of Sport Facilities in Pietermaritzburg for 4 years and then as Manager of Development for the Durban Sharks Rugby Union for 8 years, and finally Business Development for the his last 2 years at the Sharks.  He now lives in London and is a consultant to several National Rugby Unions and professional rugby clubs and is a current ambassador for the United World Games in Austria, as well as an account Manager for RAM International, a UK based Company specialising in Rugby and Cricket equipment.  Richard set up RDJ Sports Development in 2012, which organizes sports coach and player development programmes around the world.  RDJ Sports Development Ltd is the official coaching and development partner for TROPICAL 7s.



Thinus Delport - Tropical 7s Ambassador & Coach

Thinus Delport is a former wing and fullback who played for Gloucester, the Worcester Warriors and South Africa, earning 18 caps for the Springboks at senior level.  Thinus started his rugby career playing Super 12 Rugby with the Johannesburg Lions and Durban Sharks in South Africa before joining English premiership sides Gloucester in 2002 and Worcester in 2004 where he made over 100 appearances. He retired as a professional player in 2010.  He is an RFU Level 2 qualified coach, has been a Head Coach for an English  National league 1 side and now runs coaching clinics in both the UK as well as South Africa.  Thinus is also a Sky Sport Rugby pundit covering international matches in the southern hemisphere.   Thinus serves as an ambassador to a number of rugby charities including Rugby for Heroes as well as the J9 Foundation.  He currently plays for the South African Legends and was part of the winning J9 Legends team at last year’s Dubai Sevens.

University of Central Florida (UCF)

TROPICAL 7s is partnered with the Sport Business Management Program program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) - a challenging degree program designed to develop future innovative leaders in the sport business and entertainment management industry. A team of students form a core part of the TROPICAL 7s event organising team and support across a wide range of areas including planning & strategy, digital & social marketing, and operations.
